Open European University
OpenEU (Open European University) is a pioneering alliance of open and distance education universities across Europe, including the Open University of Cyprus (OUC). The initiative aims to establish the first pan-European open university, promoting flexible, inclusive, and high-quality digital education accessible to all, anytime and anywhere.
OpenEU addresses major challenges in European higher education, including digital transformation, lifelong learning, and equity in access, by bringing together institutions and learners from across Europe in a shared digital space.
In this context, OpenEU has set the following objectives:
- Create a European digital open campus that connects learners and educators across member universities.
- Develop micro-credentials and flexible study pathways for reskilling and upskilling professionals.
- Strengthen lifelong learning opportunities and inclusion for diverse learner groups.
- Promote interoperability and cooperation between European open universities.
- Support Europe’s green and digital transition through innovative learning models.
