SENTINEL
CYber SENsors for criTical INfrastructurE protection and Large scale cyber range training environment
The scope of the project is to investigate holistically how critical or other infrastructures and organisations can be protected through appropriate cybersecurity / cyber defense systems, and through training activities based on Cyber Range platforms. The project aims to design, develop, deploy and manage a distributed IDS (Intrusion Detection System) and HIDS (Host-based intrusion detection system) sensor network. Sentinel Sense will be able to detect, report and alert of relevant cyber threats, threatening the critical information infrastructure. In this context, SENTINEL has set the following objectives:
- To deploy and manage a solution that will be able to evaluate the entire cyberspace of the Republic of Cyprus and produce alerts for any findings requiring action. Alerts such as, vulnerabilities, possible malicious IPs, other similar threats etc
- To create a Cyber Range IT training environment
- To allow the creation of realistic network and IT infrastructure and application deployment scenarios of (A) can be replicated and tested for security purposes in a virtualised environment
- To set the basis where the developed IT Cyber Range will be used as the core infrastructure for future development of Cyber Range Interfaces and Cyber Exercises for Marine, Power and Telecom sectors
